Overview

We've been super busy behind the scenes! Both on the Breedable codebase as well as the upcoming update for the Companions. Just in the last 30 days I (Onyx) have completed 6,200+ new lines of code. This doesn't include all of the code and amazing work that Xundra has been doing on the Combat system and other activities. The new Companions update has been tested by the staff and we're nearly ready to roll everything out. It's important to note that while we say "Companions update", this is much much more than that. This update is actually the Phase 2 update for all transferable Companion, Shoulder Pet and Static Decoration items. This update also comes with a number of features which we'll touch on and show below. All of this is absolutely essential for the Breedable but it's also essential for the Companion update as well. So we're excited to finally get this update out!

Dragoos Market

This upcoming update introduces the Dragoos Market page of the website. This is where you'll list your Dragoos for the community to see as well as be able to search and shop for items that have been listed. For now, the Market will only show Companions, Shoulder Pets and Static Decorations. But of course, as soon as the Breedables are launched, you'll see a tab for the Breedables as well as any other transferable items like consumables, crafting ingredients, crafted items, etc. Keep in mind the Market is far from perfect, but it will evolve and be improved over time. Below is a screenshot of how the Market and items will look.

Account Area

With this update, we'll be opening access to the Account Area of the website where you'll be able to login and submit a Support Ticket or track the progress on the existing Tickets. For now the Account Area will be limited, however this will eventually be your Dashboard for all things Dragoos related. Which means you'll be able to see and track your Tickets, Quests, see all of your Dragoos, access your Virtual Inventory, see your Stats, and more. Below is a screenshot of how this area looks.

Support Tickets

The upcoming Support Ticket system will allow you to submit and track the progress of Support Tickets. The system also has an in-world notification system. So when your Ticket changes status or receives a response from Staff, you'll get a notification in-world notifying you of the change along with the URL to see the Ticket. We've done our best to make this system as intuitive and informative as possible. Again, it's not perfect, but it will improve. Below is a screenshot of how a Support Ticket currently looks.

Update Process

For the upcoming Update, we've tried to make the process as painless as possible. But you have to keep in mind, we're transitioning items that were originally intended to barely have any scripting and that didn't have any Update functionality built in. So this first update (Phase 2) will be a little more difficult. When we launch the update, you'll pick up an Update Box. This box is copyable and will allow you to drop a single item or a group of items for updating. The box will coordinate with the server to verify and determine the eligibility of each item and will update each item accordingly. Any ineligible items such as No-Transfer Dragoos items or non-Dragoos related items will be sent back to the owner. We'll release more information on the Update Box when we're ready to roll this out.

New Features

Along with the Market listing feature, the new Companions Update will also include other new features. One new feature is the ability to set the Name of your Dragoo and show / hide the Name in Hovertext above your Dragoo. Another feature is the new Uplift feature. We all need some encouraging words sometimes. The Uplift button on the new Menu will send you a random motivational message to help lift your spirit.

If this is Phase 2.. what will Phase 3 be like?

Phase 3 of the Companion Update will be huge, but it will not come until after the official launch of the Breedables. Phase 3 of the Companions will change the Companions into a server-side pet that will have a lot of the functionality of the Breedable Dragoos. You'll be able to do most of the Activities that you'll be able to do with the Breedable Dragoos. Combat, Quests, etc. This Phase will also make the Companions work (in a limited way) with the upcoming Dragoos HUD. We'll release more information about this closer to launch.

Final Thoughts

I set out to build an experience and an adventure that people will get countless hours of enjoyment out of. Something that will give the community many different revenue streams and options to choose from. There might be some that choose not to breed at all. Some might choose a different path, like doing activities, collecting crafting ingredients and selling the ingredients or the crafted items. This is an experience for everyone. Not just for those who want a new Breedable. This project is and has always been about passion. Period. Despite the rumors, I'm going to continue doing what I always do... which is continue to make the best damn product I can possibly make within my limitations.
