Below is our latest Dev Update! Enjoy!
Overview
Hey everyone! Onyx here! I know it's been awhile since my last Dev Update so I wanted to show you some of the things I've been working on. There has been an absolute ton of work going on behind the scenes. For security reasons, there's a lot of things I can't show. There are tons of new tools I've created for the backend to help create and maintain content more efficiently. Every day we're moving closer and closer to being ready for Open Beta. I hope to eventually build public facing versions of some of these tools since I think they could be helpful to the community in the future. But for now I'll show you what I can.
Breedable Dragoos
As you've probably seen, the Breedable Dragoos are alive and well and running around on the main region as well as Affiliate regions. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to rez them at every Affiliate location just yet because we have a lot and it's tough to keep up while I'm in the middle of Dev and of course RL. But I'll keep rolling them out to every active Affiliate we have. The Breedable Dragoos you see are alive and functional breedables. However, they are a special version that are not allowed to unlock new traits. We didn't want these to reveal anything beyond the initial Beta Red / Natural traits. We'd like to leave the rest as a surprise for Beta. You'll probably see me out making the rounds between the main region and Affiliate regions and hatching eggs, swapping out Dragoos and building out trees.
Backpack - Gear & Tools
I've completed the Backpack page of the HUD. The Backpack page is where you'll access your Account Inventory, equip Fishing Gear, equip Tools, Rings, Amulets and Relics. Below you can see a video of this functionality. As you can see, you can equip things via the HUD or the Website UI. It's your choice. I personally prefer the Web UI as it shows more information and more content. But you may prefer equipping directly in the HUD. Tools are Axes, Pickaxes, Shovels and Bug Nets. Fishing Gear is your Fishing Pole and Bait. Equipping Gear or Tools only exists on an Account level (for now). Equipping something does not add it visually to your Avatar. Rings, Amulets and Relics all provide boosts in various ways. Some might improve certain Activities. And some might improve your Breeding. All items have some kind of durabilty / charges and will not last forever. So you'll have to use them wisely. Base Tools will be purchasable from the main region or Affiliate region vendors. The rest will need to be discovered or crafted. I'll have more information on Tools & Gear coming up in the next Dev Update.
Crafting
I've finished the Crafting System. Originally there were going to be 7 different Crafting Stations located on the main region and Affiliate regions and you had to visit / touch one to be directed to that section of the Crafting UI. But we decided we wanted you to be able to Craft anywhere. So now you can access Crafting by clicking the Account Inventory button on the Backpack page of your HUD and then the Craft tab once you're in the Account Area. When you craft something, it'll go straight to your Account Inventory. And almost all items are transferable. Crafting isn't completely a walk in the park. For longevity purposes, a lot of items are behind a Crafting Skill and Recipe wall. So you can't just spam Craft anything you want. It'll take investing some time and developing partnerships with others in the Community. Below is a video of the Crafting system. I'll release more information on this system in a future Dev Update.
Inventory Page & Treasure Caches
The Inventory Page has had some improvements lately. I've setup functionality for selling items as well as added Treasure Caches. Caches are essentially loot boxes that you'll randomly get during activities like Fishing, Quests, Combat, etc. They are not transferable, but most of the items you get in them will be. Below are videos of the Inventory Page and what it looks like to open a Cache. There will be many types of Caches. Each one connected to a particular Loot Table. Some will give you Cooking Supplies, Gardening Supplies, Materials, etc. There are currently 440+ items to discover or craft. And the list will continue to grow as we get closer to Beta.

Skill Progression
I've added a new page for Skills / Skill Progression. You can see an image of it below.

Fishing
Fishing can now be done anywhere, at reduced performance. But if you want the best rewards, you'll want to visit a Fishing area at the main region or Affiliate regions. The upcoming Affiliate page will show you what Activities a certain Affiliate has on their region and whether Fishing is available or not. Fishing requires Bait. You can purchase a Base Fishing Pole and Bait from the main region or Affiliate Regions or you can grab a Bug Net and start hunting Bugs to turn into Bait. There are many Fishing Poles and types of Bait to Craft. Auto Cast does repeatedly Cast for you. But not forever. After a certain amount of time, you'll have to confirm you're present. More information on Fishing in a future Dev Update.
Working
You can now Work with your equipped Tool. Most Tools will require you to be near a node such as Wood, Stone, Ore, etc. Bug Nets are usable anywhere but greatly benefit from being near a Bug node. These nodes will be visible across the main region and Affiliate regions. Auto Work is just like Auto Cast. It does repeatedly perform a Work action for you. But not forever. After a certain amount of time, you'll have to confirm you're present. More information about this will be revealed in a later post.
Calista & The Fractured Realm
Work is about to begin on the Fractured Realm. The Fractured Realm is a location at the main region where you'll go to battle NPCs and Bosses. The Fractured Realm is the creation of Calista, the villain of Dragoos lore. Calista herself is a Boss. But not like most of the Bosses you can visit and battle any time. Instead, Calista will leave the Fractured Realm and attempt to invade Rivenhelm (the main region - ground level) a few times per year. The Community will have to come together to defeat her and push her back to the Fractured Realm. In doing so, those who participate will receive some well deserved rewards!
What's Next?
I'm currently working on finishing and testing the Quest system and HUD page. After that, I'll move on to finishing and testing the Combat system. The Quest and Combat systems completions should conclude the Activity system and put us really close to being ready for Beta. After that it's just polishing, creating more content, mapping things out for longevity and getting everything ready to begin Beta.
Final Thoughts
As always, I truly appreciate your patience and support! As you can clearly see, Dragoos is much much more than just a breedable. And it's important for the Community to understand the scope and work that has gone into this over the years. This has been a massive undertaking to say the least. Especially since I'm the only one working on any of this. I'll be revealing more information on everything in future updates but I hope you enjoy what you've seen in this one. No one is more eager and excited for Dragoos to release than myself (and my bank account, hahahah!). But I promise you, it's coming. Thanks again and I'll speak to all of you again soon!
